DeltaXML announces new product for DITA users

July 2010 - DeltaXML has today announced the release of its DeltaXML DITA Compare product. Designed for editors working on DITA documents, this new product allows the editor to compare two versions of the same document. If edits have been made to document A and the revision saved as document B, without the use of track changes, it is now a simple process for the editor to compare documents A & B. DeltaXML DITA Compare uses revision flags to identify which elements of the document have been changed.

A merged version of the document can be reviewed to see what has been added or deleted from document A to make document B. This process works not only with simple text but also with structured lists and tables. DeltaXML DITA Compare will identify any changes made to both lists and the contents of cells in a table.

DeltaXML DITA Compare is provided as a Java or .NET API for integration into a CMS (Content Management System) or publishing pipeline. Try out DeltaXML DITA Compare for yourself or view our YouTube video.

DeltaXML and Zuhlke help major US bank

June 2010 - Delta XML has recently been working with the Zuhlke group a medium-sized enterprise that delivers high-end development, consulting and integration services from seven offices across Europe. In its latest project Zuhlke advised a top-tier US bank on its need to produce documentation in PDF that can be updated using Acrobat Standard. Zuhlke Engineering designed an architecture for this documentation based on PDF forms and an underlying XML schema that encodes the content of the forms.

"For this client we needed a product which was 100% reliable," commented Dr Wolfgang Emmerich, CEO and Partner at Zuhlke Engineering Ltd. "Together with the client we examined a number of options but DeltaXML Core was clearly the best differencing engine when it came to accuracy, reliability and control of the result."

The architecture uses a number of third party components, including iText in order to extract and insert content from and into forms. In order to meet the requirement to compare different versions of PDF forms the underlying XML content needs to be compared. Following an evaluation of several XML differencing engines, the bank decided to procure the DeltaXML product because it provided the most precise differencing results. DeltaXML now calculates differences of the XML messages contained in PDF forms and invokes an XSLT stylesheet to translate these differences into RTF markups that are then used in the PDF forms to visualise the differences.
