DocBook Service Technology

The DeltaXML DocBook service can produce a number of different output formats.  Depending upon the format selected a toolchain is used to process the data which may consist of a number of components. The toolchain components are:

  1. DeltaXML Core DocBook pipeline. This is a processing pipeline for DocBook data which comprises the DeltaXML Core comparison engines and DocBook-specific filters.  For further details, please see:  How to Compare DocBook
  2. DocBook XSL.  These XSLT filters are used to produce either XSL-FO or html formats.  In the case of XSL-FO the service makes use of a customization layer we have developed and made available, please see: How to Compare DocBook
  3. An XSL-FO to PDF renderer. Currently we use RenderX XEP version 4.9 with the RenderX 'Connectivity Kit'.

If you are interested in purchasing the software, please consider requesting an SDK evaluation to evaluate this technology running locally on your hardware and also to investigate how it could be embedded in your applications/processes. You can register on our website and then automatically request an evaluation.

The service is delivered using the NetKernel microkernel/RESTful application server from 1060 Research. This is used to orchestrate the pipeline control and interaction.

XML parsing is through Apache Xerces-J and XSLT processing uses Saxon-B, part of the Saxon XSLT and XQuery Processor from Saxonica Limited.  This service is provided in conjunction with RenderX who have provided a server license for the use of the XEP renderer, note that each page includes a RenderX specific footer.  We would like to thank all these projects/companies for providing these components used to provide this demonstration service.
